About Houseboats

Kashmiri houseboats are traditionally crafted from local cedar wood, typically ranging between 24–38 meters (79–125 feet) in length and 3–6 meters (9.8–20 feet) in width. Much like hotels, they are rated by their level of comfort and luxury.

Many houseboats feature:

• Elegantly furnished rooms

• Private verandas and sun-decks perfect for evening tea or cocktails

• Unique mooring along the western shores of Dal Lake, near the Boulevard Road and Dal Gate area

• Access via wooden footbridges

• Attached kitchen boats, which double as the residence for the boat owner and his family

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar – Houseboat Stay

• Pickup from Srinagar Airport

• Transfer to a traditional Kashmiri houseboat

• Welcome with authentic Kashmiri tea

• Shikara ride on Dal Lake to enjoy floating gardens and surrounding views

• Return to the houseboat for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2: Day Trip to Gulmarg (65 km – 2 hrs one way)

• After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg (2,440 meters above sea level), known as the “Meadow of Flowers”

• Explore:

  • World’s highest golf course

  • Winter sports activities (skiing during the season)

  • Optional Gondola ride (cable car at personal expense) from Gulmarg to Khilanmarg

• Return to Srinagar in the evening

• Dinner and overnight stay at the houseboat

Day 3: Day Trip to Pahalgam (94 km – 2.5 hrs one way)

• After breakfast, depart for Pahalgam, the “Valley of Shepherds”

• En route:

  • Visit saffron fields and Anantnag Sulphur Springs

  • Enjoy a scenic drive through pine forests and along the Lidder River

• Local sightseeing at Pahalgam

• Return to Srinagar in the evening

• Dinner and overnight stay at the houseboat

Day 4: Full-Day Srinagar Sightseeing

• After breakfast, visit:

  • Mughal Gardens – Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Chashme Shahi

  • Shankaracharya Temple

  • Explore the Old City

  • Optional shopping or leisure time

• Return to the houseboat in the evening

• Dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Departure

• After breakfast, check out from the houseboat

• Transfer to Srinagar Airport or Bus Stand for your onward journey
